For this post, I wanted to look specifically at down comforters at WalMart.com. The reason being is WalMart has great prices on down bedding and customers have written rave reviews about recent purchases. For the following reasons, I have listed WalMart as my recommended place to get the best value on a down comforter.
I first looked at the Sateen White Goose Down Comforter. The price only ranges from $119 to $129 depending on what size you get. It’s got 400 thread count which is pretty good as far as preventing those feathers from escaping. The Sateen also has a 550 fill power which goes to how many feathers are actually in the comforter.
Another reason to love the Sateen Goose Down Comforter is it doesn’t come with that industry odor or smell that so many down products come attached with. Fine attaching and the fabric is super soft. This is light to medium weight depending on your judgment and left many customers happy.
Right now, you can also find the Luxury Pleated Square Down Comforter on clearance for only $35 or $40 for larger sizes. What a deal! The Luxury Pleated Square is generous in size as the name indicates and will keep you warmer than most blankets will. Both soft and attractive, it’s hard to go wrong here. Some satisfied customers bought a few for family members because they were so pleased with the price and quality. Just as PSA, don’t forget deep pocket sheets are helpful in stretching your bedding over the mattresses.
If you’re looking for synthetic down comforters, you might also like the the windowpane pattern Down Alternative Comforter. It’s a 300 thread count with microgel polyester fill and obviously is a hypoallergenic comforter. It’s not very thick, it probably has medium thickness but it will definitely keep you warm at night. You’re going to like the quality as it is well made and just as good as much higher priced down bedding. Overall, very heavy and has great warming capability. Will keep you comfortable even in freezing temperatures.
Another of the down comforters on sale was the ultra inexpensive Organic Cotton Down Cotton Fill Comforter at WalMart.com. Priced at only $17 to $23, this is quite a bargain. It only as a 240 thread count, unlike most comforters down, it can be machine washed. One negative to buying this is you may initially get that chemical smell when you first open the the package, but again you can wash it. I should also point out on this one that I think it’s filled with cotton and not down. Still, a great place holder until you can afford a real goose down comforter.
